Yoko Phono Soundsystem features the manipulated audio of Drone Baez (Frank Van Duerm) and WWDJ (Vincent Naples).

Channeling a broad range of inﬂuences and textures, Yoko Phono’s live set is an etude in tension and release.

Hazy euphoria with utter hopelessness, the duo reaches deep into the crates to channel the great thinkers and songsmiths of the 20th century before mangling them beyond all recognition. Fueled by the lifeless binary of what used to be your favorite song, Chicago’s Drone Baez and WWDJ repurpose and misappropriate dusty classics, found sound and ambient noise over a bed of glitchy beats and granular pads.

Drone Baez utilizes an analog synth w/ copper touchplates, a digital synth and three hacked Nintendo DS units.
